Japanese Definitions and Phrases to Know
Japanese Words and Phrases
Note: Many Japanese words can be either noun, verb, or adjective at the same time.
Keep this in mind when translating whatever we write. Also, we may or may not use
all of these, but it's good to learn anyhow.

Below are the suffices that are added to names to show respect and affection.
- -chan (i.e. Ami-chan, Rei-chan, Mako-chan, Minako-chan, Usagi-chan, Mamo-chan, Hotaru-chan)
- This is used for a younger person, someone whom you're really close with, or
a close friend of the same age.
- -san (i.e. Michiru-san, Haruka-san, Setsuna-san, Mamoru-san)
- This is used as average respect or with people you are unfamiliar with. Also usually used
with people who are older than you.
- -kun (i.e. Mammoru-kun)
- I'm not quite sure but I think this is used mostly for men, showing respect & age.
- -sama (i.e. Metallia-sama, Galaxia-sama)
- This is used to show a LOT of respect. Not something to be used evey day unless you're
some sort of serving-man in a house full of royalty. ^_^;
